Goods train derailed in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Rail traffic was disrupted on the busy Pilibhit-Bareilly route after a goods train derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district Wednesday, an official said. No casualty was reported in the accident.
The goods train derailed near the Lalaulikhera station, subsequently damaging the single-line rail tracks.
“Though, mainly a wagon of the goods train derailed, rail-tracks up to 400-500 metres were badly damaged owing to the derailment,” Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Nagendra Pratap Singh told reporters in Pilibhit, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“The derailment has completely disrupted the movement of several trains along the Pilibhit-Bareilly route. The cause behind the derailment is yet to be ascertained. The goods train was heading towards Pilibhit from Bareilly,” he added.
According to officials, the work to restore traffic on the affected route was under way.
