MUMBAI - Mumbai police Wednesday registered a case against rioting leaders and party workers of the Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Sangathan who turned Dadar railway station into a war zone while taking credit for the newly-launched Mumbai-Sawantwadi train service, an official said.
“Members of the Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Sangathan pelted stones at each other at the station Tuesday midnight which went on till the wee hours Wednesday,” said Sunil Deshmukh, senior police inspector of the Matunga Police Station, where the complaint was registered. Four police officials were also hurt in the clash.
The case was registered against Nilesh and Nitesh, sons of state revenue minister Narayan Rane, who led the activists of the Swabhiman Sangathan and MP Sanjay Raut and former mayor of Mumbai Milind Vaidya, who led activists of the Shiv Sena.
“A case has also been registered against more than 200 party workers of both the parties for the riot and assault on policemen,” Deshmukh added.
