Man attempts suicide near chief minister’s house

RAIPUR - A man facing arrest in a forgery case created a scene Monday just outside the official residence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh as he attempted to set himself ablaze along with three family members.

The person, Gajanand, poured kerosene over himself. His three family members, including two women, followed his actions and tried to set themselves on fire. However, security officials caught them and alerted the nearest Civil Lines police station and they were taken them to the police station.

Officials at the police headquarters said the man was wanted by Durg district police in connection with a forgery case and was evading arrest for weeks and had tried to commit suicide before just to evade possible arrest and gain sympathy.

Civil Lines police station have informed the Utai police station in Durg district about Gajanand’s arrest.
