GHAZIABAD - A management institute student hanged himself to death from the ceiling fan of his bedroom in his house here, police said Monday.

According to police, Punit Mishra, 22, pursuing his Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) as a distant learning student of the Institute of Management Studies (IMT), Ghaziabad, committed suicide in his rented house in Pratap Vihar.

His death was detected Monday morning when a relative, Anil, came to meet him and despite persistent knocking Punit did not open the room door. He peeped inside the room from the roof of a neighbouring house and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

Anil called the police, who broke open the door and took the body for post-mortem examination.

Police said Punit was dropped at the house Sunday night by his friend Navneesh.

“Punit, a resident of Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh), had taken the house on rent two years back and was attending coaching classes in Niharika Academy for the final examinations to be conducted by IMT,” said Superintendent Police city A.K. Vijaita of Ghaziabad police.

“Till now no reason has been found of the suicide. No suicide note was found during the search of the room. We are waiting for his father to arrive,” added the official.
