Sohrabuddin killing: Farm house owner denied bail
By IANSWednesday, August 25, 2010
GANDHINAGAR - The Gujarat High Court Wednesday rejected the bail application of the owner of a farm house where Kauserbi, wife of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, was suspected to have been kept before she was killed.
Justice Z.K. Saiyed rejected the bail plea of Raju Jirawala, owner of Arham farm house in Ahmedabad, on the ground that the investigation into the case was still in progress.
His plea was rejected by a lower court earlier.
Raju is the brother of Bharatiya Janata Party municipal corporator from Ahmedabad Surinder Jirawala.
The farm house owner has been charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and wrongful confinement of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauserbi.
Sheikh and his wife were picked up by a joint team of the Gujarat and Rajasthan police while they were on their way from Hyderabad to Sangli Nov 23, 2005.
They were brought to Ahmedabad and are suspected to have been kept at Arham farm house near here.
While Sohrabuddin was killed in a staged shootout a few days later, his wife Kauserbi disappeared without a trace.
