SHIMLA - Two trucks transporting sandalwood were seized close to the China border in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district, a police official said Wednesday.

The trucks were intercepted Tuesday near Kaurik, the last Indian village connected by road, by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. Two people were arrested, Superintendent of Police S.R. Rana told IANS.

He said over telephone that the trucks were carrying at least 10 tonnes bark of sandalwood.

“Initial investigations suggest the sandalwood was meant for Tibet,” he added.
