Four vehicle thieves held in Haryana

CHANDIGARH - Four members of an inter-state gang of auto thieves were arrested and 12 stolen vehicles recovered from them in Haryana Tuesday, police said.

The four men were arrested in Pinjore town, 20 km from state capital Chandigarh. The gang was active in Chandigarh and in different towns of Punjab and Haryana, according to police.

The arrested men were identified as Balkar Singh (kingpin of the gang), Baljinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar.

“Police laid a trap and arrested the four from Pinjore town. We are hoping to solve over half-a-dozen cases of vehicle thefts with their arrest,” said a police official here Tuesday.

“During interrogation, they have confessed their involvement in various cases. So far, we have recovered 11 two-wheelers and one Maruti car from their possession,” he said.
