Poor woman jumps into well with three kids in Jharkhand

BOKARO - Upset over financial problems, the 28-year-old wife of a labourer jumped into a village well with her three small children in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district Monday, police said.

Kalawati Devi, 28, jumped into a well with her three children in Lalmatia village of Bokaro district, a police official told IANS.

The children were - Kajal, 7, Payal, 6, Amar, 3. All four died.

Kalawati’s husband Sampoorna Das is a labourer with the Chandrapura thermal power plant in the district. He was allegedly not giving money to his wife to run the family.

Last week, a woman facing starvation in the same district committed suicide with her three children by jumping into a well. The three children died but the woman was saved by locals.
