Man arrested for supplying fake currency notes

LUCKNOW - The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Wednesday said they have arrested a man involved in the supply of fake currency notes brought from Nepal and Bangladesh.
Noor Islam, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, was arrested late Tuesday from the Gomti Nagar area here along with fake currency notes having a notional value of Rs.53,000.
“Noor Islam was involved in the illegal trade for the last several years. Earlier, he used to bring fake currency notes from Nepal, but for the last few years he was bringing the notes from Bangladesh,” said a press release issued Wednesday evening by the ATS.
According to officials, Islam used to supply fake currency notes in several districts across Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
A team of ATS officials is interrogating Islam to collect more information about others involved.
