Six killed in Thane building collapse

THANE - Six people, including a woman, were killed and four injured as a building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Thane district Tuesday evening, police said.

The two-storeyed Sonibai building that collapsed is located in the Kalwa township of Thane.

“Bodies of those killed and the people who are injured have been shifted to a government hospital in the area. Those killed are yet to be identified,” said an officer from the Kalwa police station.

This is the third such incident in the area this year. Residents of Babu Hafiz Zindani apartments had to shift to a transit camp Aug 2 as their building collapsed after developing cracks. Vilas apartments in the same area had tilted and the residents shifted out June 20.
