LUCKNOW - A former Janata Dal MP’s son who with his two brothers killed a youth has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, police said Tuesday.
Rahul Singh, who has just completed his medical studies, was arrested late Monday from a forest area of Guraitha village, some 250 km from here.
With the help of his two brothers, who are still at large, Singh was said to have killed Mohd Alam over a trivial issue. The three brothers shot Alam dead Friday evening at their farm house in Pakarbarda in Moradabad district.
“Acting on a tip-off, we managed to nab Rahul. He has confessed to his crime,” Superintendent of Police Rahul Yadvendra told reporters in Moradabad.
“We believe now we would shortly trace the other two sons of the former MP, who were also involved in the crime,” he added.
Police said Alam and his two friends stopped in front of the farm house gate to check about an address with the three sons of former MP Hargovind Singh.
The two sides exchanged blows and later the brothers shot dead Alam while his two friends managed to escape.
Hargovind Singh was MP from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh in 1989.
