BAREILLY - Thirty-six people have arrested for the communal clash that broke out in this Uttar Pradesh city, police said Tuesday, adding the situation was now “under control”.

According to Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal, four people were injured in the Monday evening clash between members of two communities after some unidentified people set ablaze a vehicle belonging to a Kanwariya group camping in Fareedpur area on the outskirts of the city, about 250 km from Lucknow.

The condition of the one of them was serious, he added.

Meanwhile, curfew continues in Fareedpur and Fatehganj areas of Bareilly.

“Besides sufficient number of PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) men, we have also sent a contingent of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) to keep a tab on the prevailing situation in the affected areas. The situation is well under control,” Brij Lal said.
