GHAZIABAD - A 19-year-old B. Tech student of a private university in Ghaziabad was critically injured after he fell from the fourth floor of his hostel, police said Monday.

According to sources in the college, Abhishek Kumar, a B. Tech (Mechanical) student of SRM University’s NCR Campus, Modi Nagar, was allegedly thrown off the under-construction fourth floor of his hostel situated within the campus.

Abhishek was found lying on the ground at around 9.30 p.m. Sources told IANS that Abhishek was talking on his mobile phone when he suddenly went out of the room.

The hostel building has only three floors while the fourth floor is under construction. Abhishek was immediately rushed to Yashoda Hospital from where he was referred to Fortis Hospital in Noida. He was put on the ventilator and his condition was stated to be critical Monday night.

Superintendent Police (Rural) Capt M.M. Begh said, “We have not received any complaint so far. If we receive anything, action would be taken accordingly.”

Public Relations Officer of SRM University, Anil Kumar Sharma, denied that Abhishek was thrown off the hostel. “There was nobody on that floor and entry to that floor was blocked. We have to check how he managed to reach the fourth floor.”

Abhishek belonged to Ranchi.
