ISLAMABAD - At least one child died and over 300 people fell ill after eating food at a flood relief camp in Pakistan’s Punjab province, media reports said Saturday.

Pakistan is grappling with its worst ever floods that left over 1,600 people dead and affected over 14 million people. A media report put the total economic loss due to floods at around Rs.250 billion ($2.92 billion).

The food poisoning incident occurred Saturday morning after the flood-hit people were reportedly served outdated food products at a relief camp in Taunsa city on the east bank of the Indus in Punjab province, Xinhua reported citing local media.

A few people even lost consciousness after eating the food and had to be admitted to hospital, camp officials said.
