LUCKNOW - Three sons of a former Janata Dal parliamentarian have been booked for killing a youth over a trivial issue in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, police said Saturday.
Rahul, Atal and Kaushal, sons of Hargovind Singh, allegedly shot dead Mohd Alam Friday evening at their farm house in Pakarbarda, 250 km from Lucknow.
“It all started when Alam along with his two friends stopped in front of the farm house gate to check about some address with the three brothers,” Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Yadvendra told reporters in Moradabad.
“The two sides thereafter started exchanging blows and later the brothers shot dead Alam while his two friends managed to escape. The three brothers are absconding. Teams have been constituted to nab them,” he added.
Meanwhile, locals in the area took to streets Saturday morning, demanding arrest of the three brothers. They also threatened to carry out widespread demonstrations if the three were not arrested.
According to officials, Singh was MP from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh in 1989.
