Teacher to face action for thrashing Class 11 student

LUCKNOW - A government school teacher of Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district will face action for brutally thrashing a Class 11 student that left him needing multiple stitches on his head, an official said Thursday.
Mohammad Ahmad, a teacher of the Islamia Inter College Wednesday assaulted Shishir Shukla after the student jumped the queue while leaving the class for playing in the ground in a free period.
The incident came to the fore Thursday when Shukla’s parents approached some senior education department officials, who in turn assured them of taking stern action against the erring teacher.
“The case is a serious one. We need to take strict action against the teacher for mercilessly beating up the boy. As we came to know about the incident today (Thursday), we immediately ordered an enquiry into the case,” District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Gyan Prakash told reporters in Etawah, some 300 km from here.
“Preliminary enquiry reveals that the teacher is at fault. We have also learnt that the teacher is absconding. The student has been treated and is out of danger. We may also go for legal action against the teacher if he fails to turn up before the enquiry team,” he added.
