White House: No knowledge of Stevens’ condition

WASHINGTON — The White House says Obama administration officials are closely watching news out of Alaska following a plane crash in a remote area of the state.

But Obama spokesman Bill Burton says officials don’t know the status of former Sen. Ted Stevens, who is believed to have been aboard. Burton says the administration’s thoughts and prayers are with the families of all nine people on the plane.

Authorities says five people were killed in the crash. Former NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe is also believed to have been on the flight.
