SONEPAT - Police Sunday said they had busted an inter-state drug racket, seizing 500 cannabis and arresting three people, including a Nepali, from this Haryana town.

“Following a secret tip-off from our source, we laid a trap and intercepted a truck. During a search we found around 500 kg cannabis that was kept in 68 boxes. The accused were active in this part of the country for the last many months,” a police officer said.

According to the officer, the drug was smuggled from Nepal and loaded on the truck at Biranj near the India-Nepal border by the three, who were on their way to Uttar Pradesh’s Loni town, where they had to make the delivery to some other smugglers.

The three - identified as Ravi Kumar, hailing from Nepal, and Balram and Akash, both residents of Patna, were booked by police under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
