BEIJING - At least 65 people were killed early Sunday morning due to landslides triggered by heavy rain in China’s Gansu province, officials said.

The landslides occurred at around 12.00 a.m. Sunday in Zhouqu county in the province, said Mao Shengwu, a county official.

The total number of people affected by floods in the province is around 50,000, officials said, adding that floodwaters had submerged many parts of the province and many houses were buried by landslides.
