LUCKNOW - The left arm of a Class 3 student of an Uttar Pradesh school was fractured after the principal allegedly beat him for making noise in the classroom, police said Friday.
The incident took place Thursday at the Igraham Public School of Aligarh district’s Bannadevi area. But it came to light Friday when police booked school principal S.N. Singh for beating eight-year-old Siddharth Kumar.
“The victim’s parents alleged that the principal dragged their son for several metres before pulling him inside his cabin. Then he kicked the boy and beat him repeatedly with a wooden stick,” police inspector S.L. Arya told reporters in Aligarh, about 350 km from here.
“Medical reports suggest that the boy has a fracture in his left arm. There are also external injuries. We have initiated an enquiry against the principal and would take necessary action against him,” he added.
However, principal Singh said he did not thrash the boy. “It may be possible that the student had fallen down from somewhere and fractured his hand,” Singh said, declining to comment further.
