Uttar Pradesh BJP leader’s wife murdered

LUCKNOW - The wife of a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator was found strangled to death inside her house in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district Saturday, police said.
The body of Revti Singh, wife of Hukum Singh, was found in the morning in the legislator’s residence in the posh Gandhi Colony in Nai Basti area, some 350 km from Lucknow.
Hukum Singh, a senior BJP leader represents Kairana assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar.
Police have ruled out theft or robbery behind the murder as valuables and cash were found intact inside the house.
“Preliminary investigation indicates Revti Singh was strangulated to death,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Akash Kulehri told reporters in Muzaffarnagar.
“We are yet establish the motive behind the crime. Teams have been constituted to nab those behind the murder,” he added.
According to police, only servants were present inside the house when Revti Singh was murdered.
“At that time, there were only a few servants in the house. The BJP leader was also not present. The MLA, who was in Lucknow, has been informed,” police inspector Jagdeesh Singh said.
