POMPANO BEACH/NEW YORK - An unflappable 20-year-old sales woman in Florida kept her cool during a robbery, turning away a robber by discussing Jesus, a broadcast report said Friday.

ABC broadcaster showed video from the security camera in a cell phone store in Pompano Beach, Florida. The robber tells her she doesn’t need to be afraid.

“I’m not,” she said. “I’m just going to talk to you about the Jesus I have.”

Instead of giving him the $300 he demanded, she engaged him in conversation.

“Jesus got something way better for you,” Nayara Goncalves told him. “I don’t know what you are going through, but all of us are going through a hard time right now.”

She asked why he was robbing the store and offered him help in looking for work. After five minutes, the robber gave up, saying he only had a toy gun, and left the store.
