BAHRAICH - Nepal police have seized 10 stolen Indian vehicles near the Indo-Nepal border, about 30 km from Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district.

“Nine motor-bikes and one car were seized Wednesday night during a special drive undertaken to flush out stolen Indian vehicles, believed to be finding their way into Nepal in a very big way,” Vinod Ghimire, a Nepal police officer, told IANS.

“At least 500 stolen cars and motor-bikes have sneaked into Nepal where they are plying under fake number plates,” said Ghimire at the Rupaidiha-Nepalganj border.

However, police were unable to get hold of those riding the vehicles as they managed to flee.

“We have also been asked to carry out checks in plain clothes so that the thieves do not get alerted and can be nabbed,” Ghimire said.
