Japanese Tanker Faces Explosion in Hormuz

ABU DHABI (GaeaTimes.com) — The Japanese Vessel M.Star faced an explosion onboard while passing the strait of Hormuz The incident took place 3:30 Bahrain time. Varying reports are coming in from various sources regarding the cause of the explosion.
The Japanese ministry confirmed that one person was injured on-board the ship. The U.S Fifth Fleet, refuted the claim stating that there were no reported injuries. The tankers owner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. claimed that the explosion was because of an attack. They claim that a crew member saw a light flash in the sky. Reports suggest that a earthquake measuring 4.8 in Richter’s scale was reported in the region.
The U.S Fifth Fleet in an official statement said
Initial damage assessment from the ship’s owner … is that one lifeboat was blown off the ship and there is some damage to the starboard hatches
The ship was carrying a cargo of 270,204 in the time of the explosion. The movement of ships from the strait of Hormuz remains unaffected.
The oil-prices will not rise because of this incidence.
