Two planes collide mid-air in New Zealand

WELLINGTON - Two planes collided mid-air in New Zealand Monday, one of which crashed while the other landed safely at an airfield. Two people were killed.

Two Cessna 152 planes were involved in the crash near Feilding in the North Island at 3.30 p.m., Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Bill Sommer said.

Two people from the plane which crashed into a paddock died, while the second aircraft managed to land at an airstrip nearby, Xinhua reported.

Police have cordoned off nearby roads, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
