Bride’s throat slit after calling off wedding

LONDON - A Scottish woman is fighting for her life after her throat was slit just a few hours after she called off her marriage. It is not clear whether her fiance was behind the murderous attack.
Lisa Whyte, 32, was due to marry Steven McKee Friday. She shared a house with McKee, but moved out last week after an argument. Though she returned later, the couple continued to argue and the wedding was cancelled after another verbal duel, a neighbour told police.
Whyte was attacked in her home in Stirlingshire, Scotland, Saturday morning, police said, adding that she was airlifted to hospital for treatment and her condition was “critical but stable”, the Daily Mail reported.
A 37-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the attack, but it was not clear whether he was the one who assaulted her.
Whyte, an accountancy assistant, has two daughters - Lucy, four, and Heidi, six - with McKee.
A neighbour said Whyte’s family, including her daughters, had gathered around her bedside at the hospital in Glasgow.
“I can’t believe she’s lying there in hospital. It is just terrible. It’s a terrible thing for her children to go through. They shouldn’t have to see their mother like that,” she said.
“It’s been really upsetting for the neighbourhood. We just hope and pray that she pulls through. She is a really lovely woman.”
