BEIJING - At least 13 people were killed in a landslide in northwest China’s Gansu province Saturday, authorities said.
A total of 15 people were buried under 3,000 cubic metres of debris in Pingliang City where workers were dredging a river, Xinhua reported quoting a statement from the provincial government.
Rescuers had found all those buried in the debris and taken them to hospital where 13 later succumbed.
Floods in China this year had left 742 people dead and 367 missing as of Friday, according to the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
Floods have hit 28 provinces across the country, affecting 120 million people and swamping 7.6 million hectares of crops, resulting in losses worth 152.4 billion yuan ($22.51 billion).
