3 kids hurt in Maryland roller coaster accident
OCEAN CITY, Md. — The most popular ride at a landmark Maryland amusement park has been closed as state safety investigators look into a roller coaster accident that sent three children to local hospitals.
Officials said a cable broke Thursday night on the Tidal Wave, a double-loop boomerang roller coaster at Trimper’s Rides. They said no one fell off the roller coaster.
An Ocean City fire official said paramedics took two children to one hospital to evaluate potential neck and back injuries and a third to another hospital for a cut. Their conditions were not available Friday and authorities did not release their names.
Operations manager Brooks Trimper said one child had a small under-eye cut that was “not a deep laceration.”
