NEW DELHI - Rajesh Talwar, father of teenager Aarushi who was murdered along with the family’s domestic help in 2008, Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the media from indulging in reckless and irresponsible reporting on the case.

Talwar, in his application, said that the reporting by a section of electronic media and that of the print was prejudicing their case and damaging their reputation.

The application is likely to come up for hearing next week.

Talwar said that media was continuing with its reporting on the matter despite the apex court asking it to exercise caution in reporting on the matter.

In July 2008, senior counsel Surat Singh moved the court drawing its attention to the entire case, including its media coverage.

On May 16, 2008, 14-year-old Aarushi was found murdered in her home in Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

Initial suspicion was on the domestic help Yam Prasad Banjade alias Hem Raj. However, his body was subsequently recovered from the rooftop of the Talwars’ house. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
