CHANDIGARH - Two security personnel were injured Tuesday in a freak firing incident, police said here.

According to the police, both the officials were injured after the rifle of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable went off accidentally.

”CRPF constable Shiv Pal had come to clean his service rifle in the morning. While he was cleaning the rifle, it somehow fired. One of our constables was also injured in the accidental firing,” said Janak Rana, station house officer of Sector 39.

“Both of them were shifted to PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) in a serious condition. However, doctors said that their condition is now stable,” Rana added.
