PATNA - An armed gang of robbers looted and assaulted the passengers of a train in Bihar’s Begusarai district early Tuesday, police said.

According to police officials, over a dozen armed men looted cash and valuables from nearly a dozen passengers of the Amarpali Express between Khagaria and Begusarai railway stations. Two passengers were injured when they resisted the robbers’ attempts.

Angry passengers of the train later staged a protest at Barauni railway station and railway police lodged a case in this connection.

In the last six months, over a dozen train robbery cases have been reported across the state.
