Bomb wounds several at mosque in eastern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD — A bomb at a minority Shiite mosque wounded several worshippers Sunday in eastern Pakistan.

The attack appeared to be the latest in a string by Sunni extremists against other Mulsims they consider infidels.

The blast took place at a mosque in Sargodha city, which is in Punjab, the country’s most populous province, said Tasneem Qureshi, junior minister for the interior. He said several people had been wounded, but could not give an exact figure.

Earlier this month, militants bombed a Muslim shrine in the Punjabi city of Lahore, killing more than 40 people.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was visiting Pakistan on Sunday, but was meeting officials hundreds of miles (kilometers) away in the capital of Islamabad.
