China executes gun trader

BEIJING - A man convicted of illegally making and selling firearms has been executed in eastern China, a media report said Saturday.

Wu Zhiqiao was executed Friday. He was sentenced to death by the Intermediate People’s Court April 22 last year. The Supreme People’s Court upheld the verdict, China Daily reported on its website.

Wu, from Guizhou province, had sold more than 50 guns and about 200 bullets before police arrested him and seized 40 firearms and 160 rounds of ammunition in November 2007.
