Typhoon Conson hits China

BEIJING - Typhoon Conson with wind speeds of up to 126 km per hour hit China’s southern Hainan province Friday.

The storm made landfall at 7.50 p.m. in Yalong Bay in the resort city of Sanya, Xinhua reported quoting the disaster prevention office. About 40,000 people had been relocated.

The authorities recalled all fishing boats to port, and ship and flight services were delayed.

Conson left 39 people dead in the Philippines.
