JAMMU - A man posing as an advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was Tuesday arrested in Katra, the base camp of the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The imposter was ironically identified as Manmohan Singh, a resident of Fateh Nagar in New Delhi, a police official said, adding that he was on his way to the shrine.

“He posed as an advisor to the prime minister and made the authorities believe so. But the police felt suspicious and checked up with Delhi Police and the Prime Minister’s Office to know the truth,” he said.

The police have charged him with fraud.
