LUCKNOW - Uttar Pradesh minister Nand Gopal Gupta alias Nandi, who was critically injured in a bomb blast in Allahabad, is “conscious and out of danger”, doctors said here Tuesday.
Nandi, the minister for finance (stamps and registrations), was late Monday flown in a state plane from the Jeevan Jyoti Hospital in Allahabad to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, about 200 km away.
Nandi was operated for his injuries at SGPGIMS late Monday, said a doctor treating him here.
“He (Nandi) is completely out of danger now. The minister is conscious and has been kept in isolation,” SGPGIMS Medical Superintendent A.K. Bhatt told IANS.
“No one is being allowed to meet the minister as there is an infection risk to the patient,” Bhatt said.
A 45-year-old man was killed and five, including Nandi, were critically injured in the bomb blast which took place Monday afternoon near the minister’s house in Mutthiiganj locality of Allahabad.
Police constable Sanjay, Nandi’s security personnel Pritam, sweeper Shyam Babu and journalist Vijay Pratap Singh suffered serious wounds.
“They are all still undergoing treatment at a local hospital,” Allahabad District Magistrate Sanjay Prasad told IANS.
