GULF OF MEXICO (GaeaTimes.com)- If the recently uploaded video on the BP site is any indication then the Louisiana residents plagued by the Gulf oil spill can heave a sigh of relief. A footage that is now available in the web shows a giant underwater robot placing a cap on the well under the water at the Gulf. The well that was gushing oil for the last few months possibly has been sealed by the cap though the effectiveness of the operations can only be confirmed after carrying out certain tests. It seems that after months of efforts and facing public and political wrath the UK based oil giant has finally accomplished its objective. It is also taking other measures to stop the oil leakage that has threatened to destroy the ecology of the gulf coast.

The BP video has raised the hopes of the residents of the affected states. In the affected coastline the fishing operations came to a halt post the spill. The marine life has also been severely affected as the images of birds washed in oil slick have proved. However, despite the success in capping the well BP is going ahead with its digging of the relief well. It is likely to be completed by August as the company has said.

After the release of the BP video the web the stock value of the company has soared higher with a number of companies showing interest in buying its assets and working with it. On Monday the company announced that it had spent close to $3.5 billion in its efforts to stop the oil spill.
