Prosecutors: Ark. doctor masterminded bomb attack

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Prosecutors say they have no forensic evidence or witnesses that prove Dr. Randeep Mann planted a bomb in the driveway of the Arkansas home of the state Medical Board chairman.

But they say they can prove Mann masterminded the February 2009 attack that wounded the chairman because he was furious that the board had restricted his right to prescribe controlled substances.

Opening statements were delivered Monday in Mann’s trial after a week-long jury selection. The juror was seated earlier Monday.

Defense attorney Jack Lassiter told jurors that nothing links Mann to the bombing. He said complaints were made against Mann to the Medical Board because of malicious gossip in Pope County, where Mann operated his clinic at Russellville.
