Pacheco arrested over lover’s death

PANAJI - Former Goa tourism minister Mickky Pacheco was arrested Thursday in connection with the suspicious death of his 28-year-old lover.

The Nationalist Congress Party legislator was arrested after authorities at a hospital where he was admitted said that he no longer needed medical attention.

Pacheco got himself admitted to hospital after claiming that he was suffering from hypertension and jaundice, immediately after he was sent to judicial custody by a trial court.

Pacheco, along with his aide Lyndon Monteiro, has been booked for culpable homicide in connection with the death of Nadia Torrado. She died after consuming rat poison May 30.
