CHANDIGARH - Scores of people, who have not been getting water and power supply in flood-affected Shahbad town of Haryana, blocked the National Highway-1 (New Delhi-Ambala-Chandigarh) Thursday morning.

Hundreds of vehicles on the busy NH-1 were caught in a traffic jam even as civil authorities and the police tried to persuade the protesters to lift the blockade.

Haryana’s Kurukshetra and Ambala districts have been flooded for the last three days due to heavy rain followed by breaches in rivers Ghaggar and Tangri, and Narvana canal.

Rail traffic in the Ambala-Delhi section has been diverted via Saharanpur due to the railway track in the section sinking at some places near Shahbad town.
