WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Three people were killed and one injured on Wednesday when a US Coast Guard helicopter crashed into the waters of the James Island in Washington. Reasons for the crash which took place on Wednesday morning are still unknown and the US Coast Guard authorities have said that they will launch an investigation to decipher the causes of the accident.

All four people involved in the accident of the MH-60 Jayhawk were members from the crew. The chopper was on its way to Sitka in Alaska after it took to the skies from the Coast Guard Air Station in Oregon. The Rear Administrator of the Coast Guard, Gary Blore, said that he was deeply saddened for the deaths caused and became very emotional while talking to the media about the Coast Guard helicopter crash. He further said that the Coast Guard could not maintain any kind of communication with the helicopter after it fell into the water. This probably may have been the reason for loss of the three lives. The only crew member who was injured was immediately sent to a Seattle hospital. He is reportedly recovering from his injuries there, with doctors saying that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Administration has requested every organization involved in flight operations to avoid conducting the same in the area in and around the accident site in order to keep the search operations of the Coast Guard undisturbed. While the dead bodies in the Coast Guard helicopter crash have been retrieved, investigation into the reasons of the sudden crash are yet to be started.
