Over 190 endangered animals seized in Mexico

Mexico City, July 7 (IANS/EFE) More than 190 endangered birds and turtles were seized in the Mexican capital, officials said Tuesday.

A Cooper’s hawk, yellow-headed parrots, blue jays, sparrows, owls and turtles were among the animals seized, the Profepa federal environmental protection agency said.

The species are protected under the Mexican laws. One person was arrested for dealing in illegal wildlife trade.
