AMBALA - The Haryana Police engaged divers to search a canal here for the body of Punjab Agriculture Minister Suchha Singh Langah’s personal secretary, who went missing Saturday and is suspected to have committed suicide.

According to police, Harbans Singh, a resident of Pathan Majra village in this Haryana district, had gone out of his house to meet someone Saturday but did not return.

His family members registered a complaint with the police Saturday. During the search operation, police recovered his bicycle and shoes near the bank of Narwana branch canal, some 20 km from here.

“We have also found a letter from Harbans’ house in which he had written that a manager of some nationalised bank was harassing him due to which he was committing suicide. We suspect he has jumped into the canal,” said a police official Monday evening.

He added, “Three divers have been engaged to search for the body in the canal but so far they have not got any success. However, we are also looking into other angles of this case.”

Ambala town is around 35 km from state capital Chandigarh.
