LUCKNOW - Unidentified armed men Monday kidnapped a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and businessman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, police said.

Sudhir Kumar Garg, 60, was kidnapped when he had gone to a park in the Brahmapuri area, some 400 km from Lucknow.

According to police, after kidnapping the leader the criminals informed his family members, but did not demand any ransom.

“We are yet to establish the motive of the crime,” Deputy Superintendent of Police R.K. Singh told reporters in Bulandshahr.

“Efforts are on to nab the criminals,” he added.

Garg, a wholesale grain trader, is a member of the BJP’s Bulandshahr district unit, police said.
