Bellevue Iowa Parade Tragedy

BELLEVUE (GaeaTimes.com)- The Bellevue Police on Sunday evening mentioned to media sources that a 60-year-old Iowa woman who was admitted to the University of Iowa Hospital at Iowa City on Sunday morning in critical condition had not been able to recuperate from her injury and died. Police however have not disclosed the identity of the woman. Apart from the woman, around 24 people that include many children were injured during the Independence Day parade in Bellevue, Iowa when two horses suddenly got startled and galloped through the parade route ejecting two passengers. The wagon was dragged for several blocks as people got trampled by the horses on run.
Although the exact reason of the horses going on a stampede is not yet known, media sources report that the two horses rubbed their heads against each other and bolted out on the Bellevue, Iowa parade route. Out of the 24 people five were admitted to the hospital with critical injuries of which was the Iowa woman who died in the Hospital. Five others suffered serous injuries while 14 more has suffered minor cuts and bruises due to the mad rampage of the two horses.
The Independence Day parade at Bellevue, Iowa route has grown as a tradition for many decades and each and every year thousands of people line up by the side of the Bellevue parade route to see the parade spectacle. This year as per reports around 10,000 people had lined up to mark the occasion and see the parade. Many children were standing at the front row to collect sweets that were being tossed at them from the wagon. Although the police said that the number of injured included many children as well it is not known for sure how many children got injured in the incident.
