One killed as magnitude-6.4 quake hits Mexico

MEXICO CITY - One person was killed after his house collapsed in a strong earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale that hit Mexico’s Oaxaca state Wednesday, media reports said.
Armandao Lugo Hernandez was crushed under a ceiling support beam when his house collapsed in San Andres Huaxpaltepec town, Carlso Ramos Aragon, director of the State Civil Protection Agency was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
The quake struck Mexico at around 2.22 a.m., with its epicentre located 13 km south of Pinotepa Nacional coastal city, where buildings were evacuated as a safety precaution.
Many house and office buildings in San Francisco Ixhuatan and La Reforma towns were damaged. Civil protection staff and soldiers are coordinating to help those affected in the towns, Aragon said.
