LUCKNOW - A drunk youth lost control over his car here and hit five people, injuring four of them critically, police said Monday.

“Siddharth Katwani, 21, was driving a Maruti Zen late Sunday. He first hit a man on Gwyne road. He did not stop and hit four more people, including two minors, while trying to escape from the spot,” police inspector O.P. Verma told reporters.

“We succeeded in intercepting the car near River Bank Colony,” he said.

Verma said four people were critically injured and were admitted to Balrampur hospital here. Two of the victims were minors.

According to the police, Katwani and his friend Alok Ranjan consumed liquor at a shop on the way and drove to Gwyne road. Several beer cans were recovered from the car.
