MUMBAI - A Mumbai court Monday directed former supermodel Viveka Babajee’s stock broker boyfriend Gautam Vohra to give his statement to police in connection with her suicide.

Principal Judge of Mumbai City Civil and Sessions Court M.L. Tahaliyani, while putting up Vohra’s anticipatory bail application for hearing Tuesday, also said that he would not be arrested till then.

Vohra has been under a cloud since Viveka’s suicide June 25.

According to police, Vohra had met her June 24 night and there are unconfirmed reports that the duo had a spat before splitting.

Vohra’s lawyer, while moving the court this evening, contended that his client apprehended arrest on charges of abetment to the former supermodel’s suicide and hence was seeking anticipatory bail.

Vohra had also gone underground and avoided all contact with the media in the past three days, further fuelling speculation.

Viveka committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her living room in a Bandra apartment, sending shockwaves in the glamour world.

Police were seeking to interrogate all her friends and acquaintances, including Vohra, to ascertain the motives behind Viveka’s suicide.

Meanwhile, Viveka’s family members, including her mother and three sisters, reached here from Mauritius Sunday night and took charge of her body here this afternoon.

Shortly thereafter, they took the body from R.N. Cooper Hospital to the Juhu crematorium and performed the last rites as per Hindu traditions.

Besides the family members, several of Viveka’s friends and well-wishers from the entertainment industry were present at the cremation.
