PATNA - An unidentified man shot at a Catholic priest and seriously injured him in a Bihar town, police said Tuesday.

Father Michael Ignatius was shot at late Monday near Nazarath Hospital at Mokama, about 100 km from here. He was shifted to a hospital here.

“A person has been arrested in this connection. We are interrogating him,” Superintendent of Police (Patna rural) K. Singh said.

This is not the first time when a Catholic priest has been attacked in Mokama. Nearly five years ago, Catholic priest Father Mathew Ujaytal was killed in an attack by an assailant.
