Police: Bus, truck collision kills 23 in India
PATNA, India — Police say an overcrowded bus has collided head-on into a truck along a sharp curve on a highway in eastern India, killing 23 people and injuring 15 others.
Police officer Amit Jain says the bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle in the accident Saturday near Dhannarua, a village in Bihar state.
He says all of the injured have been hospitalized.
Jain says some passengers were riding on the roof of the packed bus.
Road accidents occur frequently in India and are often blamed on reckless driving, aging vehicles and overloading.
